This project aims to explore imagery of being in a transitional state by experimenting with plastics, wrapping material around the body and bounding it to reflect preservation of a growing, living thing. I've applied contemporary artist research for 'SHOOT 1' and my Photograms, from Tim Walker and historical B+W films ('Tetsuo: The Iron Man').
Moving through my project, I've continued experimentation with a range of materials (plastic, paper) and processes by developing from photograms. I created samples and then photocopied them- demonstrating exploration of material in 3D to 2D formats. Image of studio space, showing fashion and textile influences- Vin and Omi, Samara Scott and Iris Van Herpen.
I have then developed on from material samples by creating textual film photo trials- applying techniques and process used in samples back into original shoot to add the 3D elements of the materials used in the shoot, distorting the imagery.
Finally, developing from film photography/material trials I have experimented with video media, editing and audio to ultimately explore discomforting imagery of being in a transitional process and created my final short film outcome. I've taken inspiration for this from Mark Leckey's use of video collage (as seen at past Tate Britain exhibition) and David Lynch's 'Eraserhead'.
